Philipsen sfata il tabù a Voiron

Jasper Philipsen rompe finalmente il tabù e può festeggiare il primo successo in questa edizione della corsa francese. Il corridore della Alpecin-Premier Tech capitalizza lo splendido lavoro dei compagni di squadra e vince allo sprint la diciassettesima tappa del Tour de France Chambéry-Voiron di 174,7 chilometri.

Il belga sfrutta l’eccezionale mole di lavoro svolta dal solito fenomenale Mathieu van der Poel che prima stoppa tutti gli attacchi e poi lancia il compagno in maniera esemplare. Philipsen precede in maniera netta lo svizzero Mauro Schmid del Team Jayco AlUla e l’olandese Olav Kooij della Decathlon CMA CGM Team.

Si ferma ai piedi del podio, quarto, il britannico Lewis Askey della NSN Cycling Team che precede l’olandese Rick Pluimers della Tudor Pro Cycling Team. Conclude la sua prestazione in sesta posizione il francese Clement Russo della Groupama – FDJ United.

La Top 10 si conclude con il settimo posto di Huub Artz della Lotto Intermarché, l’ottavo del danese Mads Pedersen della Lidl-Trek, il nono dell’australiano Michael Matthews del Team Jayco AlUla e il decimo conquistato dal neozelandese Aaron Gate della XDS Astana Team.
